Grumpy Ludwig is playing on this computer's internal CD player. The sound isn't worthy of the music, but is sufficient to bring a calming balm to this Travelling Gigster.
The morning's reading: completed Rabbi Nilton Bonder's "The Kabbalah Of Money" (Shambhala, Boston, 1996) and now onto the third in Rabbi Bonder's trilogy, "The Kabbalah Of Food" (Shambhala, 1998).

Thanksgiving in the US but there is no sign of this in Canada.
The soundcheck was made available for official photography. There was a man staring at me while I was tuning, and during the photo session. I suggested to him that he looked as if he was staring. He smiled & said that he was interested in my guitar playing. He seemed a pleasant man, yet utterly unaware of the effect that staring has upon its subjects / objects. He appeared to have no sense of the energy that pours from our eyes when our attention is attracted. I believe he had no sense of the visceral impact of staring as it impinges upon its target.
The performance: the audience was enthusiastic but overall the energy felt strange to me. Right at the beginning: a man directly in front of me spent the first two pieces trying to use his mobile `phone to call (presumably) a friend & give them a direct line on my guitar playing by holding his hand outstretched & as far into my space as possible. He gave up: I assumed the connection wasn't very good. This was part of an unsettled beginning, along with the empty beer cup thrown onstage as we walked on. The performance didn't quite settle, transform or transcend for me. A series of flashes brought my own show to an end & also a premature end to the encores. I was encouraged by the other players to return for an encore, but the show had died before that.
